Deconstructing architecture
Alienating the familiar
On architecture, rooms and memories
Andrea Grützners photo-series often deal with architecture. It is a specific way of looking of things, a beautiful sense for details or perspectives, which makes Andrea’s pictures so exceptional.
Through her lens, the subjects of her photographs are transformed in many ways. At first sight her photos are not immediately recognized as photographs, they often appear like paintings or collages. Further, she gives her subjects a new look. By using certain lenses, cameras, or colored flashlights, by highlighting special details or by eliminating the context of a subject, she strips the familiar from a picture and by that gives it a new meaning.
