Tomás Espinosa & Catalin Pislaru
Not only meant to be seen
Plastics by Tomás Espinosa and paintings by Catalin Pislaru
Tomás Espinosas plastics are “not only meant to be seen”. They also are made to be touched and felt. And their message gets even stronger by physical contact: Do we see pomegranates or breasts, cucumbers or something else? While Tomás’ work literally is meant to be touched, the meaning of Catalin Pislarus paintings is not exhausted, if they are just “seen”. Their aesthetic power lives from imaginations and memories the observer carries with her or him. Through that, Catalins minimalistic paintings open up a realm for what one wants to see or what one can imagine.
